Vivenda dos Palhaços

Vivenda is in Majorda, a village in Salcete taluka, right in the middle of Goa’s coastline. The area is mostly known for its five star hotels, proximity to the airport, and long white sands. Simon himself tells us that the presence of the five-stars on the beaches has shielded the rest of the area somewhat from the fates of Calangute and Baga and the proliferation of package tourism. What this means is that Vivenda, less than a kilometre from the beach, in a residential area, is very, very quiet.

How to get there:

Vivenda can organise for you to be collected from anywhere in Goa.

By air:
Goa airport aka Dabolim is very well served all year round by domestic flights (Indigo/GoAir, Jet, Air India, SpiceJet), as well as international charter flights during the holiday season.

By train:
For Majorda alight at Goa’s main station which is Madgaon (in Margao) and is well-served by trains coming south from Mumbai and north from Kerala.

Distances & travel times:

airport: 20km / 25 mins

railway station:
Madgaon station: 10km / 20 mins

When to go:

All year round.

Monsoon discounts are available, and with the beach out of action anyway, it would be a great time to stay. Otherwise, the usual November to March tourist season offers the most in terms of activities, facilities and people to meet. Naturally, that’s when the sun is out too.

Getting around:

You could walk but you wouldn’t get far.

Bicycles are available, as are taxis with reliable drivers, and Vivenda have a nice car and auto-rickshaw that they do like to use.

You can also rent scooters, as is the norm in Goa and really the best option to explore outside the local area.
