Two Chimneys

near Nainital, Uttarakhand

Two Chimneys is in the village of Gethia, an 8-hour drive north-east from Delhi, which means if you leave early enough you will arrive in time for one of their sumptuous lunch buffets.

Gethia is very well known in the area, so you should be able to ask anyone for directions from Kathgodam onwards. Two Chimneys is on the main road, but a world away from the noise of Nainital. If you should miss the din of the town however, it’s a 30-minute drive away. There are also the famous lakes of Kumaon to visit while you’re out and about.

How to get there:

By air:
Delhi is the closest large airport that offers connections from across the country.

By rail:
Kathgodam is the nearest railhead. The hotel can collect you from the station.

By road:
Regular Volvo and luxury buses from Delhi ply the routes to both Kathgodam and Nainital. Of course, it’s probably easier to drive yourself (see instructions above).

Distances & travel times:

airport: Delhi 330km / 8 hrs

railway station: Kathgodam 24km / 1 hr

When to go:

Guests flock here between April and June to escape the heat of the plains and take advantage of the summer vacations. July to September can see some heavy rain

September and October are also popular because of the balanced weather that autumn in the hills can bring.

Getting around:

Having your own car is the ideal way to get around but don’t despair if you don’t drive up here – the property will happily arrange knowledgeable local drivers for you.
