When to go:

There are different reasons to visit in different seasons.

May and June is when people from all over India flock to the hills to escape the Indian summer and enjoy the views while devouring orchard-fresh fruits.

October to December is the best time for bird watching/birding.

The end of December through January is perfect to experience the beauty of snowfall.

Getting around:

Ideally, you should drive up to The White Peaks. But if you don’t, they arrange cars with knowledgeable drivers. Shared local taxis ply between towns here, but they can be packed and perilous.

Around the immediate vicinity of Gagar you can of course walk, but make sure you pack shoes that are up to the job!
