Suryagarh
near Jaisalmer
The hotel offers two fabulous restaurants situated next to the main courtyard.
The Legend of Marwad, which is open only for dinner, and Nosh, which is open all day. The Legend of Marwad must be booked ahead, and serves up local dishes with a gourmet twist. Nosh offers a choice of Indian and Western style breakfasts. Particularly good are the poached eggs served with toast, potato and fried tomatoes. It’s nearly impossible to find a good poached egg in India but Nosh does it perfectly.
For lunch and dinner there are a plethora of options including plenty of vegetarian choices. You can enjoy anything from burgers and tandoori chicken wraps to Bombay fish, kibbeh and north Indian vegetable dishes. Ask about the Rajasthani tasting menu which offers a little of everything.
Draksh, the bar, is open from 11am to 11pm, and has a broad range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available. There are imported wines from Europe and the New World, or top shelf spirits from around the globe. Look out for the sculpture of the Rajasthani man on the wall, with a long moustache protruding to form a shelf for over 25 international spirits.
