There’s no lonely-island feeling about Shivavilas; there is much to pack in during your stay.

Explore:
A short, sinuous ride from Shivavilas Palace, through red-tinged iron-rich mountains lies the 1200-year-old ancient temple of Kumaraswamy, patronized by the royal family. History enthusiasts will love this.

Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra (2km) is where you can see the Lambani women create magic on fabric with typical mirror and thread work. The products from here fill many a showroom in India and abroad.

Hampi and Anegundi ruins’ trail is only 40 km away and a day trip is ample to cover them.

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary can be covered in the same day as Hampi if you are judicious about your time.

Swim:
The clean swimming pool and a bright sunny deck around it are as alluring as it gets. There’s a special kiddies section too.

Pamper:
A twin-room spa, which opens out into a garden, comes into action if you pre-book massages or a steam.

Shop:
Head to Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra for Lambani craft, but nothing beats the Hampi streets for options in harem pants, clunky semi-precious jewellery, postcards and bric-a-brac.
