Shanti Morada

Goa

Shanti Morada is discreetly located on the edge of Saligao village, a short drive from Calangute beach, and 20 mins from Panjim on the highway. The property rises up a hillside, backing onto the jungle, and offers a self-contained world hidden from the outside.

How to get there:

Taxi is the best option, from the airport, railway station or wherever you may be. You can also ask the hotel to arrange for you to be collected.

If you’re driving yourself follow the NH17 and follow the Calangute road from Porvorim to Saligao.

By air:
Goa airport (Dabolim) is very well served all year round by domestic flights (Indigo/GoAir, Jet, Air India, SpiceJet), as well as international charter flights during the holiday season.

By train:
For Shanti Morada your nearest station is Thivim but if your train doesn’t stop there then get off at Goa’s main station which is Madgaon (in Margao) and is well-served by trains coming south from Mumbai and north from Kerala.

By bus:
Buses from out of state all stop at Panjim and some also stop at Mapusa, neither of which are too far from the hotel. Take a taxi from the bus stand or ask the hotel to send a car to collect you.

Distances & travel times:

airport: 37 km / 1 hr

railway stations:
Thivim: 18 km / 30 mins
Madgaon: 45 km / 1 hr

When to go:

The Goan tourist season runs from November to April, with its peak (and the best weather) being Xmas through to Feb. April and May can be exceedingly hot and then the rains begin around June.

These days there are many places open through the monsoon and Shanti is one of them. The nature of the rooms and service mean that it’s a great monsoon bet.

Getting around:

Hire a scooter or car, or ask the hotel to call a taxi.

Walking anywhere except around Saligao village is really impractical.
