There are only 4 rooms at Scarlette, each slightly different in size and design, although the overall style – modern, sleek, pop-minimalist – is perfectly maintained throughout. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom.

It’s worth noting that Pauline is an enthusiatic and experienced buyer, seller and collector of furniture, design objects and curios, and that almost everything at Scarlette is on sale. If something really takes your fancy all you have to do is start negotiations!

Room 1 – on the ground floor, accessed by the front terrace, is the smallest (though by no means small and still with a double bed), having a cosy, hide-away feeling, perfect for those who like to stay out and sleep in late.

Room 2 – where we stayed, is on the first floor and considerably larger, split into living and sleeping areas, with the added attraction of a balcony from where you can view the comings and goings of the friendly neighbourhood. Quirky touches, such as portraits of Nehru and Indira Gandhi above the bed, and retro-modern furniture abound, giving a sense of the future as imagined in the 1960s.

Room 3 – is the largest in Scarlette, split into two rooms separated by the bathroom, making it perfect for families, with a main bedroom at the front and a smaller kids’ room or lounge/study behind.

Room 4 – on the top floor, opposite an outdoor seating area, is the most modern and perhaps the most beautiful, a vision in white, with clean lines and crisp finishing.
