Scarlette offers very little in terms of activities – it’s more guesthouse than large hotel – but Delhi itself is really the activity and the hotel is the refuge, a perfect base to reach out and explore.

In Scarlette’s case, being located in South Delhi, the location is more in favour of shopping, eating and drinking in the Delhi that its own citizens inhabit, rather than usual tourist sightseeing, though of course the sights can be easily accessed.

Because Pauline is an expat with a great understanding of the city, she can direct you to places that wouldn’t be on a traditional tourist itinerary.

Shopping: 

South Delhi’s malls and shopping markets, and Old Delhi to the north, are both about half an hour away by auto or taxi, depending on traffic.

Pamper yourself:

In-room Ayurvedic massage is available on request and the nearby spa Asian Roots offers a full range of treatments.

Sightseeing:

You’ll no doubt want to get out and about and explore Delhi as there is lots to see. To do this, use the excellent metro system or jump in an auto. The nearest metro is AIIMS station which is just a short (10 mins) auto ride away.

The Deer Park and District Park:

Check out these parks, regarded as some of the ‘lungs’ of Delhi, and just under 1km away. There’s a lot of green, open and forested space with lots to see – animals, monuments and so on – great for a stroll and for kids as well. Carry on wandering south and you can come out in Hauz Khas village which is a great area to find somewhere to eat (see Dining).
