Ratan Vilas

Jodhpur

Ratan Vilas is located in the Ratanada area, in the new part of Jodhpur. Situated on Loco Shed road, near Bhaskar Circle, it’s easy enough to get to and most autos and cabs know the way to it.

The hotel is perfectly located just 3.5 km from the old city – close enough that getting to the Old City doesn’t become a chore.

How to get there:

The easiest way is to fly to Jodhpur from Delhi or Mumbai.
Ratan Vilas offers complimentary pick-ups from both the airport and the railway station.

By air:
Jodhpur has a small airport that services very few flights, and only to and from Delhi and Mumbai.

By rail:
Jodhpur Junction is the busiest railway station in the city and has daily as well as weekly trains to various parts of the country, connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

By bus:
Jodhpur is connected by bus to several cities and towns in Rajasthan, and to Delhi. Jodhpur is about 600 km from Delhi and is approximately 12 hours away. RSRTC’s Volvo buses are a good option if you’re planning to take a bus, but the long journey can be tiring.

Distances & travel times:

airport: 4 km / 15 mins

railway station: 2.4 km / 10 mins

When to go:

The best time to visit Jodhpur is from November to March, when the days are pleasant and the nights are chilly. The day can be fairly warm with temperatures sometimes hitting 25 degrees C, so plan your day out well.

Do not even think of visiting in the summer months – that’s when the desert sun is most unforgiving!

Getting around:

The best way to get around Jodhpur is to take an auto to the old city and then make your way around on foot. The narrow lanes of the old city do accommodate autos, and even cars, but only barely. Autos are available easily, and a few can always be found standing outside the hotel.

Do remember to haggle with auto drivers, and don’t pay more than 50 rupees for a trip to Ghanta Ghar (where most autos will drop you off). It’s unlikely that you’ll find a metered auto to take you, though they do exist.
