Raas
Jodhpur, Rajasthan
There are two main dining areas serving both Indian and continental fare.
Baradari, located right by the pool, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, both outdoors and in. The romantic setting is best appreciated in the early evening or late at night; the vibe here is casual yet intimate.
During the evening, sit above the Baradari at the open rooftop bar and you can really appreciate the fort lit-up at night. Sip on well made, strong cocktails and follow this up with a private meal ordered by room service. Pizzas are paper-thin and the Thai salad was fresh and well seasoned. In-room dining is available 24 hours.
For a more private and romantic atmosphere Darikhana, with its large open-air terrace is the place. Here you get the full impact of the view: Mehrangarh Fort set against the pink sunset and then beautifully illuminated as the night draws in.
The cuisine here is Indian, with fruit and veg strictly seasonal – from the hotel’s own organic farm – plus spices sourced from a 200-year-old shop in the narrow alleys of Old Delhi. The Dal Makhani is the second best this reviewer has ever had (and I’ve had a lot!) though everything we tried demonstrated the diligence and craft of the Raas chefs.
Breakfast is Continental or Indian, with your choice of fruit juices, homemade yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit, toast, butter, marmalade, tea, beans, hash browns, eggs and coffee along with a traditional Indian dish such as parathas or puris. Eggs cooked to order in the style of your choice are also included.

Menu
The menu is a refreshing change from the traditional Rajasthani dishes found in most hotels across the region. There’s a particularly strong Thai and Mediterranean influence.; most of all we loved the thin crust pizzas and plentiful breakfasts!
Good vegetarian options.
Dining nearby
Traditional restaurants are sparse in Jodhpur but there are a lot of small restaurants or ‘dhaabas’, where you can sample traditional Rajasthani food or other Indian cuisines. There are lots of options once you step out of the hotel gates.
Umaid Bhawan Palace is not close by but must be on your list if you are in Jodhpur for more than a day or two.
