Palm Grove Beach Resort (Little Palm Grove)
north Goa
Located on the quiet beach of Ashvem (between Morjim and Arambol). Far from the touristy areas, loud bars and beach shacks that dominate many of Goa’s beaches.
How to get there:
By taxi: coming from the south, take a taxi towards Morjim, then head up the coastal road towards Ashvem. Palm Grove is off to the left, about 2 mins drive from the turning for La Plage restaurant and just before Silent.
By air: Goa airport aka Dabolim is very well served all year round by domestic flights (Indigo/GoAir, Jet, Air India, SpiceJet), as well as international charter flights during the holiday season.
By train: Goa’s main station is Madgaon (in Margao) and is well served by trains coming south from Mumbai and north from Kerala. For Ashvem, try to alight at Pernem or Thivim rather than Madgaon.
Distances & travel times:
airport: 50km / 1 hr 25 mins
railway stations:
Thivim: 25km / 40 mins
Pernem: 20km / 35 mins
Madgaon: 70km / 1 hr 55 mins
When to go:
Palm Grove is only open once the holiday season is underway and thus closed from May to the end of October.
Expect Christmas and New Year to be very busy and book as early as you can.
Getting around:
Public transport is not the best option though a local bus service does exist.
Unofficial Taxis are everywhere in Goa, but to make life easier ask the hotel to call for a driver.
Scooter or motorbike is perhaps the best way to explore Goa. Be aware that those upfront should wear a helmet and drive only tourist-licensed bikes. Traffic around Ashwem is not heavy but Goan roads often have unmarked speed breakers, so take it easy!
