There are 4 categories of room and 13 rooms in total. All are airy and light, tastefully (and practically) furnished and spotless throughout. Every room has a writing desk and chairs as well as a good big bed; indeed, 3 of the suites have four-posters for that added touch of grandeur.
On the 1st floor are the 3 huge suites, take one of these if you can. To the rear, their lounge areas overlook the large garden and from the front you can look out over the small park and catch glimpses of the sea.
Superior rooms are a cheaper option but still large and well appointed. The Garden View rooms get the most light and (obviously) overlook the gardens. The Garden Cottages are a little apart, in a lower section which runs off at a tangent from the main building. These cottages have an outdoor shower, cool tiled floors and little sit-out areas, close to the lily ponds and just a few steps across the lawn to the pool.
The owner’s interest in art is a great influence on the rooms and communal spaces: unique pieces hang on the walls, quirky artifacts are dotted around and there are art magazines for guests to browse. Best of all was the olden-day phone, which to our amazement can still be used to call reception!

3.5 / 5 – good bathrooms, which in most rooms are placed behind the beds, behind a partition wall and without a door – non-couples take note! The Garden Cottages are a little different and have open-air showers.
