There are 7 rooms here: 2 suites and 5 standard rooms, which all have a big, comfy bed and ensuite bathroom.

The 2 suites include a sitting area and are larger than the standard rooms, which nonetheless open onto a small internal courtyard where you can choose to take breakfast. It’s good to know that the standard rooms also have a lower rate if just occupied by a single guest.

The layout of the lodge has changed little in the last 100 years, interiors have little natural light and the bedrooms are furnished in keeping with the rustic and spartan feel of the place.

There are few facilities: no TV in the rooms (only in the communal sitting room) and no Wi-Fi at all, so in practice the bedrooms are really designed for sleeping and little else, though there’s plenty of room to relax, read, eat and potter around outside the property and in the communal lounge and dining area.

There are no coffee-/tea-making facilities but just ask for tea at any time and the helpful staff will bring it out to you.
