near Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan
Ghanerao is on the edge of the Aravalli Hills and on the cusp of the Kumbhalgarh National Park.
Ghanerao is almost equidistant from both Udaipur (to the south) and Jodhpur (to the north) with a journey from the latter being the easiest.
From Ghanerao ask the hotel to collect you or continue on your way towards the national park, it’s a 5km journey on quite a rough, potholed road.
How to get there:
Ghanerao itself can only be reached by road.

When to go:
Ghanerao is rather remote and near the hills so it can get very cool at night. The best period to visit would be from mid-October to March, with the end of January being the most pleasant time, temperatures then rarely exceed the low 20 degrees C and at nighttime it can get down towards freezing.
Getting around:
Wander round this 7-acre property and over to the temple, but don’t venture into the forest unguided!
For day trips the only way to get out and about is by car, so ask your host to arrange this for you.
