Fateh Garh

near Udaipur, Rajasthan

Fateh Garh sits a few km to the west of Udaipur – just after the sleepy village of Sisarma – perched on a hill and peering down to the fertile valley plain and the town beyond.

How to get there:

By air:
Udaipur airport is quite far out of town but road links are good. The airport is serviced by Air India and Jet, flying from Delhi or Mumbai. From the airport take a prepaid taxi (approx. 800rs) or ask the hotel to send a driver to collect you.

By train:
Udaipur is well-serviced, the main station is Udaipur City Station, from here take a taxi, there are plenty available.

Distances & travel times:

airport: 30km / 40 mins
railway station: 10km / 20 mins

Getting around:

Cars are the only way to travel around. Ask the hotel to call you a taxi and you shouldn’t have to wait more than 20 minutes.

When to go:

All year round. But the best months are between October and March with the end of January being the most pleasant time, temperatures then rarely exceed the low 20 degrees C and the nighttime gets as low as 2 degrees C.

Daytime temperatures from March to the end of November can exceed 30C.

The months of May and June, before the monsoons arrive, can be extremely hot and visiting at this time is not recommended.

During July, August and September, humidity, rainfall and thunderstorms are the norm. If cheap hotel rates are a priority, this is the time to go.
