Fateh Garh
near Udaipur, Rajasthan
Breakfast is extensive, can be served buffet style, and includes continental and Indian options. Breakfast can be delivered to your room if requested.
Dining al-fresco at the Baradari restaurant is a real treat due to the view, especially at night when the tables are candlelit and Udaipur is glowing in the distance.
We were a bit bemused by the introduction of computerised menus presented to us on tablets, perhaps a good idea due to the darkness but not the easiest for those with fat fingers. Nevertheless, the staff seemed to understand this and like any interaction at Fateh Garh it was handled with a chuckle, a smile and a lack of pomposity, something that sets this place apart from many other ‘luxury’ establishments.
Outside tables are not the only choice for dining. Adjacent to the roof terrace’s seating is an indoor area with floor to ceiling windows offering the same view but with A/C. For lunch in particular it was handy to be sheltered from the sun.
One level below the main terrace, and next to the reception foyer, is the indoor Prasadam restaurant which works from the same menu and opens largely at peak times when things get busy.

Menu
The evening and daytime menu is varied with a good selection of Indian and Western dishes plus a few East Asian items as well. Good portions, cooked to order and wholesome. The menu is not huge which is actually reassuring as the quality thus remains consistent.
There are some good options available for vegetarians, the Indian veg dishes in particular were a standout.
Dining nearby
There’s nowhere to eat nearby but the menu here should satisfy for at least 5 days.
