Dwarka
south Goa
Dwarka is built around the lagoon behind Khola (Cola) Beach, in Canacona, south Goa, a few kilometres north of Palolem and Agonda. It’s accessed via a scenic coastal road and finally a bumpy, unmarked dirt track that gives the distinct impression of going nowhere until the path leads down to the resort.
How to get there:
Best to get a taxi organized by the resort itself. If you’re driving, head toward either Agonda or Cabo de Rama and then get directions.
By air:
Goa’s airport Dabolim is well serviced by all the major and secondary cities around India, as well as receiving a large number of international passengers, flying direct on charter flights or coming in from Delhi or Mumbai.
By rail:
The nearest railway station to Dwarka is Canacona, alight here and then have a taxi take you the rest of the way, an onward journey of about 40 mins. If Canacona is not an option on your route then alight at Goa’s main station Madgaon and take a taxi from there.
By road:
Get on the NH17 highway which is Goa’s main highway near to the coast. Once in south Goa turn off towards the coast in the direction of Agonda and then head up the coast a little way to find Cola Beach.
Distances & travel times:
airport: Dabolim (Goa) 60km / 1 hr 40 mins
railway station:
Canacona 15km / 40 mins
Madgaon 35km / 1hr 15 mins
When to go:
Dwarka is open during Goa’s holiday season which in this case means November through to April. Opening times can vary so enquire before making firm plans.
Expect Christmas and New Year to be very busy and book as early as you can.
Getting around:
Two-wheelers can be hired from Dwarka. Otherwise using boats is a good option.
