The location of Coconut Lagoon means there are no sights or distractions nearby other than the views, the flora and fauna and the hotel’s own facilities.

Relax, you have no choice:
Best of all in our experience were the hammocks at the banks of the lake. Here you can lie with a cocktail and a good book until sunset. It’s not rocket science, but as far as relaxation goes it works every time.

The hotel runs a sunset boat cruise on the lake, which really is a must.

The large, playfully shaped swimming pool (with jacuzzi) is only sparsely furnished with sunbeds and umbrellas and bordered by grass not concrete, which adds to the laidback feel of the resort. The poolside bar serves snacks and drinks.

Visit the spa for an ayurvedic massage or treatment.

Be slightly active:
Kalaripayatu is an ancient Keralan martial art; every morning classes are held for guests.

Yoga and meditation sessions are held daily in the dedicated space.

Take a walk with the naturopath or bird expert, or go on a butterfly and dragonfly-spotting walk, there’s even the likelihood of spotting pythons and other species of snakes.

Bird watching is very popular in the area and Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is just next door.

The TV and games lounge has some board games for kids.

Borrow a bicycle and you can head out to the nearby village and get a glimpse of rural life.
