Chandelao Garh
near Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Due to the village location you will undoubtedly eat all your meals here.
Cross from the gatehouse entrance to the large, main building with lovely Ganesh murals behind its colonnades, and you enter a small, inner courtyard with the dining area set around it. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served here.
At times, dinner may also be served on the terrace atop the gatehouse. Regardless, this is where you should head to at the end of the day; sit out with a beer or a glass of wine, take in the view of the surrunding countryside and the distant lights of Jodhpur, and gaze across the village as the sun sinks from the magnificent desert sky.
Breakfast is largely Western: fresh juices, tea and coffee, homemade yoghurt, cereals, fruits, toast and preserves plus eggs cooked to order in the style of your choice. There are also some traditional Indian options such as parathas and puris.
Dinner and lunch options are Indian, and though some continental dishes can be prepared it seems to defy the point of being here to order these when there’s such wholesome Rajasthani food – made with organic, locally-sourced produce – on offer. At busy times a buffet operates.
Note that there is a limited alcohol selection, so it’s worth letting the hotel know ahead of time if you require something other than the usual beers and wines.

Menu
Fruit and vegetables come from local farmers, so fresh and seasonal is the name of the game.
The menu covers traditional Rajasthani and Indian dishes; nothing clever, just wholesome comfort food, cooked as it would be at home. Rajasthani dishes tend not to be too heavy on the spice. We had soup, dal, bhindi, potatoes and lovely warm, fresh chapattis and left more than full.
