Casa Anjuna
Anjuna, north Goa
Conveniently located in a relatively crowded section of Goa at Anjuna beach, the ‘casa’ sits on a quiet bylane and is well hidden from the noise and crowds, easily accessible by road.
Staying in Anjuna you are not too far from the busiest tourist areas of Baga and Calungute, and a 20 minute drive from the quieter areas of Ashvem and Mandrem.
How to get there:
By air:
Goa airport aka Dabolim is very well served all year round by domestic flights (Indigo/GoAir, Jet, Air India, SpiceJet), as well as international charter flights during the holiday season.
By train:
Goa’s main station is Madgaon (in Margao) and is well-served by trains coming south from Mumbai and north from Kerala. For Anjuna, alight at Madgaon or, even better, at Pernem or Thivim.
Distances & travel times:
airport: 50km / 1 hr 20 mins
railway stations:
Madgaon station: 55km / 1 hr 30 mins
Thivim: 20km / 35 mins
When to go:
Any time. The sunnier, busier period is the main holiday season, running roughly from October to April.
Expect Christmas and New Year to be very busy and book as early as you can.
As for the off-season, know what to expect – no swimming, no shacks or resorts on the beach, limited food and drink options, lots of rain – and you can still have a fantastic time.
Getting around:
Public transport is not a viable option.
Unofficial taxis are everywhere in Goa but ask the hotel to call for a driver if you don’t wish to search and haggle over the price.
Scooter or motorbike is perhaps the best way to explore Goa. Be aware that those upfront should wear a helmet and drive only tourist licensed bikes. Traffic around Anjuna is not heavy but Goan roads often have unmarked speed breakers, so take it easy!
