Casa Anjuna
Anjuna, north Goa
A lovely old Portuguese mansion which stands as a glorious oasis in the hippy, party scene of Anjuna. Stylish interiors, tropical gardens and great, loungey communal areas, all just 200 metres from the beach.
Stepping into Casa Anjuna feels a little timeless and classy, which is no bad thing when you’re in one of the laziest, hippy-est parts of Goa. Anjuna is populated largely by locals, long-staying Westerners and Indian tourists fleeing the cities on short breaks.
The 24 rooms have a great blend of modern and traditional décor: vibrant colours with bright motifs, stunning four-poster beds and sit-outs looking onto the gorgeous, lush gardens.
Grab a beer and relax in the shady, Arabic divan-style setting next to the good-sized, central swimming pool. Have a treatment or massage at the spa, play a round of pool or hire a scooter to go and explore the nearby countryside. And of course the beach and Anjuna’s famous flea market (every Wednesday) are right nearby.

Plus points
- Stylish yet homely property, a great blend successfully achieved.
- Tropical gardens, a big pool, spa and nearby beach.
Good to know…
- Wi-fi is mostly restricted to the communal areas.
- Heritage and boutique: so don’t expect bright lighting and all mod-cons.
- Some rooms open on to the swimming pool or ground floor communal areas, so can get noisy when the hotel is full.
