New Delhi
In keeping with its bed and breakfast status B-Nineteen is a pretty hands-off kind of place – although staff are helpful and friendly guests are left to their own devices and there are no activities or facilities as such. But Delhi is right on your doorstep and the city is one of the biggest activities of all. There’s a decent mini guide to the city in each room too, giving shopping, eating and drinking and sightseeing options.
Travel arrangements: Aditi, the manager, is happy to help and advise, and booking train tickets at the nearby Nizamuddin station is made easy.
Small menu (see Dining): great food made by Niranjan.
Shopping: South Delhi’s malls and shopping markets, and Old Delhi to the north, are both about half an hour away by auto or taxi, depending on traffic.
Go for a stroll: the local area is peaceful (for Delhi standards) and provides good spaces for morning and evening walks.
Pamper yourself: though B-nineteen doesn’t have its own spa, it highly recommends a visit to Suparna Trikha’s salon and spa, a five-minute walk from the hotel. Suparna is a beautician famous in Delhi for her natural treatments using special ayurvedic preparations and other herbal remedies.
The world famous heritage monument Humayun’s Tomb is right next door. Across the Mathura Road there’s the famous Nizamuddin Dargah, the sufi shrine that hosts legendary qawwalis every Thursday night. Beyond here lies New Delhi, with Lodi Gardens, high-end Khan Market, and Connaught Place an auto ride away.
