Alsisar Haveli
Jaipur, Rajasthan
The restaurant runs the usual breakfast, lunch and dinner service, with a room service menu throughout the day.
The breakfast buffet was standard, with a choice of some cold meats, baked beans, fresh fruits, tea, coffee and eggs prepared to order.
The room-service menu, which can also be ordered in the restaurant during the day, had a nice backpacker feel to it: a variety of fresh juices, “continental” soups, grilled sandwiches (including the ubiquitous club sandwich), pakodas and tandoori dishes like paneer tikka and kebabs.
Dinner, when the hotel is busy, is usually laid out buffet-style and consists of mostly Indian and Rajasthani-inspired fare, with many meats, dals and vegatables to choose from. One can choose to sit in the restaurant hall or outside on the terrace, there’s a puppet show in the courtyard and traditional folk dance performances in-season.

Standard upmarket backpacker cuisine, solid and dependable but with nothing spectacular. Enough to keep you going.
